About Banksia Growth Career Counselling

Over the past two decades, I’ve lived, studied, and worked across different countries including Malaysia, Canada, and Australia. Every move came with excitement - but also uncertainty, challenges, and moments of frustration.

Like many migrants and international students, I experienced the reality of starting over. I submitted hundreds of job applications and often heard nothing back. There were times I made it to interviews, felt hopeful, and then faced the disappointment of not being selected in the end. I questioned myself, struggled to understand the hidden barriers in the job market, and searched for guidance that could help me move forward with confidence.

During those difficult moments, I believed studying was the only way to create better opportunities and fit into the job market in new countries. I invested a lot of time, energy, and money studying different fields - from Linguistics and Business to Data Analysis, Leadership, and Management. But over time, I realised education is not always the only answer. Knowing how to present yourself, communicate your value, and build confidence can make just as much difference in creating new opportunities.

Throughout my journey, I worked closely with people planning to migrate for work or study, and I realised something important: behind every resume is a human being trying to build a better future.

That’s why in 2023, I founded Banksia Growth.

Banksia Growth was created to support migrants, international students, and job seekers through one of the biggest transitions of their lives. My goal is not just to help people find jobs or courses - it’s to help them feel seen, supported, and empowered in a new environment.

I know how overwhelming this journey can feel because I’ve lived it myself.
